My best girl friends and I spent many a weekend there, trading the use of our radio or cold sodas and snacks for a huge raft all five of us could fit on (called a Ufo) from the beach boys (I'm sure our young feminine wiles didn't hurt in the trade either). To this day, I still visit Black Rock almost every time I go to Lahaina. On the last visit, a sea turtle swam right past me (one of the best moments of my life!). Black Rock was my fav beach back in the 80s when I was in high school. My family likes to go to the beach fronting Oluwalu Camp. It's actually a campsite but as all beaches in Hawaii are free and open to the public (love that). We don't currently own a kayak so that's why we love it there you can rent one for a few bucks. Picnic tables, showers, bathrooms. Never crowded and a fairly local spot. But, shhhh don;t tell anyone. The producers of "No place to go but Up" never got paid for their video and many of their mortgage customers have bad promissory notes that will never be filled. There is no place to go but up for the clients that they left in the dust so don't be suckered in by this video and certainly don't feel sorry for them... I have seen that community do amazing things. They picked up a story about an African orphanage the was being invaded nightly by violet intruders. A volunteer at the orphanage was asking people on Reddit to help raise enough money to build a wall around the orphanage. Within 24 hour they had raised $73,000 dollars. They were only trying to raise like 9,000 or something like that. It is still happening right now. Anyway, if you could get this issue picked up, it might ignite a fire.
