A Christmas Carol On Maui

A Christmas Carol Charles Dicken’s classic holiday story with music -Adapted by Tom Frey

On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley, who in life was as miserly as Scrooge, is condemned to an eternity of carrying a heavy chain which he forged in life, and being unable to interfere for the good of mankind, which he would never have thought to do in life. The reason for Marley’s visit is to give Scrooge a chance to avoid Marley’s fate. Scrooge is skeptical of what he has seen and heard, but during the course of the night, he is visited by spirits of “Christmas Past”, “Christmas Present” and “Christmas Yet to Come”. The ghosts show Scrooge scenes from his life that open his eyes and make him realize that he desperately needs love and forgiveness from his fellow man.

The Maui Amuse-Bouche Challenge

This “Maui Amuse-Bouche Challenge” was a Twitter event hosted by @SneakPeekEats and The @RitzCarltonClub & Residences, Kapalua Bay. This was a fun spirited version of Top Chef right here on Maui. Four personal chefs: Chef Roger (www.FeastOnTheBeach.com) , Chef Susan (www.ChefTeton.com), Chef John  (www.privatechefsmaui.com), and Chef Elijah (www.chefelijah.com), each prepared an amuse-bouche inspired by the event theme: ‘Maui with a Twist’. Each chef presented their amuse-bouche for the tweeps to taste and enjoy.

Who were the Maui Twitters invited? They are: @mcontrol @PeterLiu47 @AlohaKathy@tommyrusso @GossipGourmet@TheOhanaMama@LHCCMatt @sfdhawaii @kulafields @daniaedibleHI @sociallia@oldlahainaluau @kawikaveeka @Ritzcarltonclub @JulieYakaCoCo @LHCCMATT@sfdhawaii @jenrusso @tommyrusso and yours truly @AMauiBlog.

The event was live streamed via www.sneakpeekeats.com. The fun part was that aside from live streaming, the live tweets using the hashtag #SPERitzClubKAP were fun to read.  I planned to live blog the event but it didn’t happen.  Too many Twitter friends to catch up with, lot of excellent amuse-bouche to taste, and I got engrossed taking photos.  So, as many would day “a picture is worth a thousand words” I am sharing lots of photos here via the slide show above.

The event was so much fun and I have a lot more to share, but for now I want to upload this post already to share the photos I took. Enjoy!

P.S. I entered this post in TheOhanamama’s Meme called Hula Shake. To find out more about it, click here.  There are many give-aways there that you can win :)
