Never watched the Taro pounding in all my many years in Hawaii. It really seems to take quite some efforts and certainly some special utensils to do the pounding.

Well, I’ve never pounded the Taro but I’ve tried several times the final product: Poi! It’s definitely an ‘acquired’ taste and it seems I never got acquired. Too bad because Poi is supposed to be really good for you.
